 Fafner: Dead Agressor (蒼穹のファフナー DEAD AGGRESSOR Sōkyū no Fafunā Deddo Aguressā?) is an anime television series created by XEBEC. It is the first entry to be produced in the Fafner in the Azure saga.

Synopsis[]

Before an aggressive alien race suddenly attacked their quiet, isolated island, Kazuki and his friends knew only a life of peace. Now the people of the island look to the teenagers as their last hope for survival. As the only ones capable of controlling highly-sophisticated secret weapons—the Fafner —these young pilots fight desperately to protect their loved ones, as well as their own identities.[1]

Production[]

The director of the series Nobuyoshi Habara, who has had experienced with mecha anime, being the director of Dancouga Super Beastial Machine God and providing production supervision for XEBEC's Martian Successor Nadesico. The anime was written by Kazuki Yamanobe of EDGEWORKS for episode 1 to 15 and Tow Ubukata for episode 12 to 25 with the series composition done by Yasuo Yamabe.

Character designs were done by Hisashi Hirai who is notorious for reusing designs he has done with Mobile Suit Gundam SEED, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, and s-CRY-ed.

The mechanical designs were done by Naohiro Washio

Release[]

The original run of the series was on TV Tokyo. In Mexico it aired on XEMIT Canal 22.

Fafner: Dead Agressor has been dubbed in English by Bang Zoom! Entertainment, and is licensed on DVD and Blu-Ray in North America by FUNimation. They also stream the series for free on YouTube.

In Russia, the anime is licensed by Mega-Anime.
